2. I already have my free bus pass. We get it at 60 in Scotland, both men & women. Colin has his too but has never used it. I'm not SNP, I don't want an independent Scotland, but the Scottish government has given us a few perks like the free bus pass at 60, free prescriptions & free eye tests. It's expensive to get parcels delivered to our postcode but that's the courier companies cashing in. I can understand higher charges for people on the islands as there are ferry charges but we are on the mainland. I refuse to order from any company charging extortionate prices to deliver to the Highlands, just on principle. I daresay our fuel is more expensive up here & I'd guess, because it's colder we probably use more energy to heat our homes. It probably all evens itself out at the end of the day x

Hi Carol, you're right, I checked after I read yours message and Colin won't get his state pension until he's 67 either. I always feel a bit cheated as I worked full time for 42 years and can't help thinking how much money we women  have lost by not getting our pensions at 60. Colin's mum did her nurse training, worked for a year before getting married & starting her family. She never worked again but she's now getting £169 a week state pension. She's getting 90% of Colin's dad's state pension but it seems a little unfair when plenty other women who have worked & paid tax & national insurance all their lives have to wait till they're 66 or 67. Before FIL died she was only getting £90 a week but even that comes to quite a lot of money over the course of a year when you consider she has never really contributed. FIL had a good job so I suppose she never had to work & her share of his private pension is £1500 a month, more than Colin's monthly Tesco wage! Lol :-)
