4. We haven't been to Loch Coruisk on Skye yet. That's 3 times it's been cancelled due to wind and now Colin is too busy renovating on his days off. It is all paid for though so he can try & reschedule once his Mums' bathroom is finished. He has stripped out & is now refitting her main bathroom which had the original avocado suite from about 50 years ago. His Mum has been staying with his brother & his wife since having her hip replacement. There is no reason she can't be back in her own house as there is another shower room plus a downstairs toilet but she is clearly enjoying the company & getting a home cooked meal put in front of her every day. The arrangement was for 2 weeks but she isn't showing any enthusiasm for going home yet & it's now almost 9 weeks. It sounds terrible but I'm glad she didn't come here. As much as I like her & get on well with her, I think everyone needs their privacy & it must now be frustrating for Ian & Catriona as they have given up their en-suite bedroom to accommodate her & she is sitting holding court in their only living room, telling them what they can watch on the telly :-D

3. We have had blue tits in one nesting box & either great tits or long tailed tits in another but both broods have now fledged. Colin doesn't like putting nuts out for the birds in the spring/summer as he says they can choke the babies but this year I have kept filling them up as I read, as long as the nuts are in the correct container they are perfectly safe for the birds to feed their chicks as they only get little bits at a time. It has been fascinating to watch a Mother Woodpecker trying to encourage her chick onto the hanger with the nuts. The chick just wants to sit on a branch & wait for Mummy to feed him. Lol. Hopefully we might get another clutch or 2 of chicks this year. I think they have been earlier than usual because the weather was so good early on. We have 7 ducklings coming in with their mother to feed from the trough. They must be 5-6 weeks old now & almost as big as the mother duck. We have loads of drakes hanging around. There are always a lot more drakes than hens. Mother Nature really needs to pull her socks up & rectify that :-D

2.  Has Luke still got his girlfriend? I ask because he's 19 & often, at that age they go through lots of different girlfriends quite quickly. It must be very difficult as you want the best for Luke but don't want to be an overbearing or interfering Mum and/or push him away with your concerns. However, when he's using your car & you are paying for the fuel then it is actually your concern and I think you have every right to say he can use it to get to & from work but not to be going so far out of his way to drive other people around. At the end of the day he's very lucky you have put him on the insurance & are allowing him to use your car so he has to respect your wishes & if the girlfriend is keen on him she will understand that, especially as she has a son of her own. We have some crows around here. I know they are very intelligent birds but I hate to see them chasing the Red Kites. They are just a pest to the Kites here. We have Kites that nested & reared 2 chicks every year but the last couple of years they haven't because every time they came to the tree with their nest, the crows were chasing them away. They also like the food (layers pellets & corn) that we put out in a trou

Hi Nicky, how are you doing now? Are your skin blisters clearing up with the antibiotic cream? That must be almost a week now. I'd have thought, if she didn't know what the cause was, she'd have asked one of the GPs to have a quick look. If they're not clearing up you'll need to go back & see a GP. I'm now going back to your messages from 3 weeks ago - sorry about being so tardy. We did have a relaxing holiday. Colin did all the driving so I just had to sit back & enjoy the scenery. He took his fishing rods & managed to get a little bit of fishing done whilst I relaxed with my kindle. We don't have far to go to see seals - we often see them in the river at the bottom of the garden. They come up with the tide looking for fish which irritates Colin no end. The fishing bodies are always going on about conservation & encouraging fishermen not to keep any salmon or sea trout they catch but nothing is done to control the number of seals (like they used to years ago) & they continue to multiply every year & eat lots of fish. We can see Dolphins at Chanonry Point in the Moray Firth which is about 20 minutes drive away. Colin puts his boat into Avoch Harbour from May to October every year.
