Getting ready to head to the cemetery to place flowers on my parents graves. First year since my dad died and it is so hard. Love/hate thing going on there and it is too much. Hope your husband is doing better. Hi Vivette. Maybe your husband's change in terms of quiet is a good thing. I know how hard it is to move him to the bathroom, that's how it was with my poor mother. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do more than you already do. It's a lesson in patience and understanding that I learned with my mother and you with your husband. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. It's horrible here, it's raining, it's cold, it's depressing. Dragos, my daughter's fiancé, said he wanted to do an exorcism, to take November out of May!

        finally diagnosed about 5 years ago

   Throught it all  we did the best we could

No need to feel  guilty  you need to care for yourself to I've got my daughter who helps when not working  my son to plus his ex girlfriend if I need her but it is hard we got to rest to to look after our hubby's xx

Hi Vivette! Yes, Freedom Farm was actually a working farm. It was built pre-Civil War and at that time there was a small settlement on the shore of Lake Huron (1/2 mile away) called Freedom. Rumor has it that this farm harbored runaway slaves and a tunnel led from the farm down to the lake, where the slaves could escape to Canada.
There is a tunnel in the basement, but closed off after 10 feet or so. It's a lovely story whether true or not. This place was a thriving dairy farm back in the 1920-1930's.  I inherited it in 1987. I did have chickens over the years when my husband and brother were here to help. It's a big place for an old gal to take care of, but no place I'd rather be!
