Today was another perfect day to stay in with that nasty misty rain. It was so cold out too. Our driveway is finished, finally. Getting a new concrete driveway sure is a long drawn out process with many layers. We can’t park on it until mid November. Piper was up 3 times last night so I hope tonight is better. I read today that if you pet your older dog and then pet your new dog with the same hand and repeat that process a few times you are transferring pheromones and that helps the dogs accept each other better. I tried it before bed and going to do on repeat because I did sense a difference in Penny after doing it. She probably thought I was crazy because I was saying nice after each pet.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Your post made me feel better because Penny “mops” the floor with Piper as well. She pushes her right along😬😬😬. Heather picked her up a little while ago so she could go play with the boys and get a break. I’ve been paying a lot of extra attention to her hoping she doesn’t feel left out. Hopefully she comes around soon. Piper slept from 9:30 last night until 5 this morning so that was nice. She’s doing pretty good with potty training too. Wrong time of year to get a puppy though. I’ve tried again to take her outside but she shivers so much. She understands the pad and runs over to it frequently to use it. It’s set up next to her crate where she will continue to sleep until she is fully potty trained and until Penny has a better tolerance of her. I fear if I let Piper sleep in the bed Penny will loose her shit🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. How are you feeling after your surgery?

That’s the kind of day I had today minus the fire, I was worried Piper would go up on the hearth and burn herself on the door. Penny is not happy with Piper being here. She is very jealous to the point of snatching toys right out of Piper’s mouth. If Piper walks over to me she will get in between us. She is obsessed with me which is one of the reasons we wanted to get another dog but now I’m second guessing my decision. She has gotten a little better in the week that we’ve had Piper. Piper annoys her a lot so she growls at her at pushes her with her nose. They both mouth each other and although it makes me nervous I believe it’s normal…I’m not sure though. The sleeping is iffy. Sometimes she only gets up once other times 3. Jill told us to let her cry. When I hear her I get up and put her on the puppy pad, she does her business and then I put her back in the crate and I go back to bed. She cry's for a few minutes and then she goes to sleep. She seems to understand the whole puppy pad thing and runs over to it and uses it. She’s had few accidents. I’ve tried bringing her outside but I think she’s to small because she shivers and whimpers. She’s only 2 pounds. I will wait until she is bigger to transition to outside.   We have her crate in the hallway between the kitchen and living room with a gate in the kitchen doorway. We had a gate with a door but she just walks right through the slats so we have to use a traditional baby gate until she’s bigger and can’t fit through. Larry is having a hard time climbing over the gate with his knees and it’s a pain to lift Penny over it but it works and makes it easier to keep an eye on her. All in all I think it’s going ok. I knew I would have challenges and that’s to be expecting. I keep reminding myself it’s temporary. Penny was a better puppy but I didn’t have another dog to take care of when we got her so that’s huge. I know a year from now I will look back and say that wasn’t hard at all!!! 💜

I guess we will find out soon enough with the pups. We bring her home on Tuesday. Larry has the week off so that will be helpful as we adjust to having two. Penny is a very good dog. She’s very routine oriented and that makes everything easy. I am reminding myself that anything that seems overwhelming is temporary and next year at this time we will be settled in living our best 2 dog life with the pups running the show!! Yes, our driveway is concrete…that’s why it’s so much more expensive…ugh. We thought about changing to asphalt but that would need a lot more maintenance throughout the years and also not match our sidewalk that runs in the front and down one side to the back of our house. Being in our late 50’s and early 60’s we shouldn’t have to do anything more with the driveway so it’s money well spent in the long run. I remember when Sherry’s son died…you were all at the cape if I remember correctly and someone drove her home. I’m sure you and Claudia will have a nice relaxing time. I saw the news this morning about the weather…yikes!! Stay safe and enjoy your week away !!

I’ve heard to not get 2 girls, or two boys. Heather has 2 boys and no issues. We wanted another girl but had no choice because the litter consisted of 7 girls. We’ve had dogs and cats together but never 2 dogs…wish us luck🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. You’ve been going to the cape for a long time. I remember way back that you would go with Sherry. Sounds like you and Claudia will have a great time. How long are you there for?  How are you feeling? Larry got a call from the guy doing our driveway today telling him that they are not pouring until next Thursday 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. We’ve been without a driveway for a week and we have another week to go and then a month after it’s poured. Six weeks without a driveway is a long time. He did say that after 2 weeks I can drive across and park in the garage but Larry has to park in the street.winter is coming so we want to get this done. My neighbor is letting  me park in her driveway so that helps, she’s across the street

Yes, one of Jill’s. A girl, her name is Piper. I wanted to name her Eleanor Rigby but Larry wasn’t really on board with that one. I was named after the Beatles song Michelle and Penny Lane is also after the Beatles song so I wanted to stay with that theme but I do like Piper. We will have Penny and Piper. We pick her up next Tuesday the 14th. She will be 9 weeks old. She is all black except for a little bit of white tips on her toes and a small sprinkle of white on her chest. Her and Penny will be day and night. Penny is a chocolate meaning she has a brown nose, lips and pads. Piper is a black…nose, lips and pads. Piper is very tiny. The litter consists of 7 puppies and Piper is way smaller than the rest. Penny weighs 11 pounds and Jill thinks Piper will be 8-9 pounds. I’m a bit worried and hoping we aren’t making a mistake. Penny is such a good girl. She potty trained pretty easily and slept through the night from day 1. She is my soul dog. She has been with me through all of the hard stuff with my Mom and I truly believe she saved me. She is obsessed with me and very possessive. We are hoping the new puppy will help with that…we are kind of getting our dog a dog. It just seemed for the best to cancel our trip. We are in the process of getting a new driveway. The old has been taken out and hauled off. The stone has been placed and tamped down. He was putting the metal whatever you call it…kind of like a heavy duty chicken wire down today but then it started raining. He’s hoping to pour Friday but he’s not sure that will happen so if not it will be one day next week and then he has to come back after it sets to cut the seams. It may be cutting close to when we were leaving and that was stressing us out also so between the new puppy, new driveway and foliage being past peak we just felt canceling was the smartest move. We had up until the 12th for a full refund which I was pleased about. Are you guys staying at your friends place at the cape? Do you bring the dogs or do you leave them with someone while you are gone?

I canceled our Airbnb this morning. We were looking at a foliage map and it's all past peak for just about the whole state of Vermont for the weekend of the 17th.
I made it to late I think. We got a full refund so that's good. We are getting a new puppy next Tuesday...my Mom's birthday... so it's for the best.
Heather was going to take both dogs for us. She has 2 dogs…4 dogs one being a puppy would've been a lot I think. She said no and was looking forward to it. I would’ve been to preoccupied worrying about the puppy anyway. How are you feeling?

I also do not drink enough throughout the day, I never have. I bought a hydro jug and since then I’ve been doing better with staying hydrated. I’ve tried some hydration drinks but there’s way too much sodium in them so I haven’t had any in awhile. I didn’t really like them anyway because they tasted to salty.

Oh that’s right, I was wracking my brain trying to think of his name. I remember him living across the street from your office on West Genny after he got out of jail. Then he started coming back into the store and I was scared to death. The first time he came in I was alone and when I saw him I froze. I went to the counter and took the box cutter out of the drawer and opened it😬😬😬. I was certain he was there to get me because I was convinced he saw us on the news with Christie🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. Now I can laugh about it but not back then. Did they remove more than one kidney stone?  I’m not familiar with that type of surgery. I’ve heard some have to me removed from your back. Is the stent removal a surgical procedure? Do you get knocked out? I’m sure you are doing everything to prevent new ones. My Mom used to drink lemon water. Her urologist told her that the most important thing to do was to stay well hydrated and she was one who didn’t drink much water. It was a battle with her. Luckily she was never in any discomfort or pain and never needed any treatment. Dr. Kim told me that the stone in question was one of the biggest he’d ever seen and he thought it was remaining stationary because of that. He said it was in a spot that wasn’t causing  any trouble. I hope you are feeling better soon with no new problems 💜

Yes, I still have it. We were on top of that and I must say, we did an awesome job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻…haha. The news this morning was talking about the box strapped to a tree outside city hall and it reminded me of him. I think you told me you were having your surgery yesterday…how did that go?
