Hello Jennifer, I guess that you were away when Mum became seriously unwell. First Dr at a clinic said she had a virus. Then she went seriously downhill. Turned out that she needed a Pacemaker and that was put in on Fridy 13th. They discharged her the next day. That was a HUGE mistake. My nephew and his wife stayed with her at her home and the next day she was back in hospital. They were loading her into the car when I arrived to take over caring on the Saturday. Now she is a local hospital and I cannot fault their care. We, my siblings and I have since been coaching her not to answer "fine" when medical staff ask her how she is. It seems that our coaching is working ecause when a doctor checked her this morning and told her that she could go home in a couple of days she said, "NO." Then the Dr, arranged for all manner of medical staff and social workers to deal with her and now they are trying to get her into a respite centre and hopefully it will be the one next to her retirement village. That will mean that her friends can come and visit her. I will go and visit her tomorrow. I think that I should give her a gold star for speaking the truth.
