I’m in SoCal, born and raised, fluent in Armenian, reading, writing, speaking. The Kathy connection was hers for sure. Most use Jasmine. I did when I was in my 20s but I only used it with new odars at social events because they would slaughter my name, never in school. So if a boy called our house and asked for Hasmik, I knew he was from school but if he asked for Jasmine then I met him while I was out. No cell phones back then. Everyone called the house phone and I’m chuckling because I would tell my boyfriend he had to call before 7pm because that’s when my parents came home from work.

I love that. I keep telling people my name is very common and everyone knows a Hasmig. 💕
