Sorry for late reply, I've been putting 2 grandsons to bed, they like me to sing songs lol
It could be a trick to make you think nothing will come to trop fruit, hard to say. But, yes, of course you can change food - if you setup rainbow square, pentagon and round you can keep the trop fruit (yellow snout will visit), and the veggies (orange and indigo toothy will visit) :D x

Okay they will be red, green or violet. You have already tested red and violet, so it would be good if you get a red one. If you want to fruit dust it as well you can - depends on whether you want to be around when it goes rfh. It will be 24hrs as is, or 12hrs if you fruit dust.

If you get your Candyflower seed from hunting (and therefore know the shape in advance) you can predict the colour by the bud.
Round, Square, Crescent:
small left leaning bud ----- red, green or violet
small right leaning bud ----orange or blue
fat bud --------------------- yellow or indigo
small left leaning bud----- yellow or indigo
small right leaning bud ---red, green or violet
fat bud -------------------- orange or blue
small left leaning bud: ---- orange or blue
small right leaning bud:---yellow or indigo
fat bud ------------------- red, green or violet

Good morning :D) Yellow snout has filled in another "blank" in critter list.
Yellow snout = 2nd pos = pentagon (blue is wrong colour).
The only "blank" to fill in with a shape now is 1st position lollipup. You could put pentagon back into 1st while you're waiting for next candy plant to come along.
Pentagon, round, square, with same foods.
All the best for a good weekend x
