Good morning Lucia. Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot. Since my diagnosis, I’ve heard of so many people being diagnosed as pre diabetic. I think the surgery supplied me with the monitor to put my mind at ease, as I was so worried about it. It’s a comfort to know how long you’ve been living with it and managing so well. Becoming insulin dependent terrified me! My brother-in-law was also diagnosed but his way of dealing with it is to take a sample 3 times a day and has made a wall chart to monitor it…a bit extreme but it’s his way of dealing with it! I was told once maybe twice a week is suffice. I’ll be happy to get a reading myself 😂 Steve gets very frustrated, which is understandable. Like most men, he’s not a good patient and I’m not a good nurse! He’s also having problems with his eyes, he had fluid behind his left eye which started an infection, for which he was prescribed antibiotic cream, which I have to apply 3 times a day. He’s going to the eye clinic next week for an injection in his eye ( this will be his 6th one)not a pleasant experience as you can imagine. It is what it is, no use complaining. At least it’s treatable. Thank you once again for your kind word

Hi Lucia. I’m fine-ish. I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic earlier this year and have a monitor to check my blood sugar. I’m not very good at it, more often than not the screen will say ‘error…not enough blood’ 😂 My granddaughter who is a nurse, will do it for me when she’s here and it’s always fine. Unfortunately, Steve is now housebound, with arthritis in his spine from his neck down, with narrowing of the spinal canal. He’s on a lot of medication and can no longer drive. Things could be a lot worse, my brother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We have to be thankful for small mercies.
