depends how old your dishwasher is. I dont think they use that much power. i have ours on a echo cycle.As for the vents in rangehood, depends on the age of it the newer ones some of the vents are dishwasher safe.. this house i'm in is only 3 years old so all newer appliances. you would need to check your manual if you can put yours in the dishwasher.
when its only me around weekends, i just put everything in the dishwasher and they get done when the next day. xx
