I have been working on Bees for quite a while and cannot seem to get any further than 4 red and 1 orange petal.  Not sure how to proceed....

we all had one color that seemed impossible to get past. Since the bee season is almost over, I would put as many beehives in storage as you can. Then, attract the orange bee and if it's not the first bee to visit on an empty hive, switch the hive out for a fresh one until orange is first. With orange starting out, you have a better chance of getting another orange on the same hive because you have 4 more chances.

been on one orange 4 yellow forever - im gathering hb seeds right now ready for next year - although that's slow going too!!

Yes, it's the only way to progress through the levels, plus you'll need some of them for queen bee. And the all violet hive is nice for getting violet bees exclusively.
