Are you using fairy ring on chrome or on firefox?

If it's chrome, it may just be hidden in the menu (top right button), if you click it you should be able to drag it back over. If you don't see it check if it's still installed:

That is odd, you're the first that I heard of that happening to. Do you sign into whatever browser you use with an account? The only time i've heard of settings getting wiped is if people remove the extension or sign out of their account, if they sign out they just have to sign back in. Just in case it happens again though I'd recommend backing up your messages/settings to a notepad file, apologies for the inconvenience.
