Hi Eloise, yes it's amazing how they all have different personalities, some very friendly, others wary or feisty. Before we had hens I would never have believed how different they could be in character. It's a bit sad seeing only 2 of them when we were used to seeing 4 but we will just have to wait until more are available. I'm glad your 3 remaining peachicks are doing okay. I assume the older they get the stronger they get & the better their survival chances? We have a massive mature beech tree in the garden which has now shed a lot of copper coloured leaves so today I was sweeping them into lots of piles. Colin is working until 8.30pm - he makes leaf mould with them but first he puts them in a big tub & then strims them to crush them - the compost bins hold a lot more that way. The hens were following me & raking through all the piles, I assume for insects. I just hope there's no wind tonight & I get up tomorrow to discover my 30 piles are scattered again :-D

Hi Eloise, how are the peacocks getting on with the new shelter? Are Peacock Mothers not very good at looking after their babies? We have a heat lamp that Colin put in the duck shed until the ducklings were 6 weeks old which is good as long as they all go in at night. We did have 3 that we hatched from eggs that we found lying in the garden so they overwintered in a big pen in the double garage - no Mother - and we read somewhere afterwards that feather dusters were good in these situations. You hang them upsides down & the babies can tuck themselves under the feathers for extra warmth x

Took a bit of a Tumble outside on Thursday so been laid up.. luckily no bones broken just shaken and scuffed!!
