I was mainly referring to spot a garden alert and not saying anything. I would have been warned about it.

3. We got tickets for Garth Brooks in Hyde Park this coming June from Lynne & Ben for Christmas. I've never been a fan. Colin used to play his music a lot but not for quite a long time. I think he'd have jumped at the chance to see him live 20 years ago but now, coming up for 63 & having had our issues flying from Miami to Heathrow, losing power, diverting to New York etc he's not keen on flying & he really doesn't like being in a large crowd at an organised event (because of terrorist threats) Anyway I have booked flights from Inverness to Heathrow and am thinking that Covent Garden might be quite central to get a hotel. It seems Terminal 5 at Heathrow, Covent Garden & Hyde Park are all on the Picadilly Line. We are only staying 1 night but our flight home is not until 8pm so I'd like to think we could do or see something whilst in London rather than sit in an airport all day & I don't want to be getting off & on different tubes when I'm not used to it. What do you think? x

2. I don't really know much about oedema & compression stockings - a medical problem, not a surgical one :-)  Elevating the legs on a footstool with a couple of pillows especially if Joan does a lot of sitting might help a bit. We had things called flowtron boots at work. They were used mainly for orthopaedic patients - we would sometimes get a transfer from ortho if they were short of beds or if an ortho patient developed a surgical problem that necessitated them being in a surgical ward. So these things were actually plastic and was like a boot with no front - there were just velcro straps at the front to close them. They were attached to a pump that pumped air in & out thereby compressing the blood vessels in the lower legs. I'm not sure if they would be beneficial to Joan or not. I suppose it all depends on why her legs are so swollen, but the GP should be able to give advice & not just expect patients to get on with things. Sorry I can't be of much help x

That's very interesting Linda. I was thinking about rider safety when the temperature was low. I never even thought about the temperature of the blood products they carry. I think our blood bank fridge used to be between 2 & 6 degrees. We had to note the temperature down along with all the relevant details of the blood pack we were taking, and if a unit was out of the fridge for 30 minutes or more without the transfusion starting, it couldn't be used & had to be returned. Glad you're finding the endangered a bit easier than the chicks and as you say, once you fill your vases & attract your first endangered, it's much easier to eliminate what you need to refill it. I need to attract 2 passenger pigeons & I'll put the bird pole out with some SF later. And then it's "just" attracting & spotting the chickadee chick - spotting will be a lot harder. I have hunted in some bird baths today but they are so frustrating. I think it's the worst reward out of all the challenges. I'd rather stalk an egg in a nest! x

GDF alert in my garden

Hello, I hope it doesn't take too long to finish your endangered vases. I suppose there are less people doing them now but maybe that makes spotting a little easier. I hear you about the regular food. I have quite a few regular visitors who always used to have organic or SF out, they do all the quests/challenges as soon as they are released but now they only ever have regular food on their plates except for their free Dino SF once a month. I don't understand it. Glad to hear Joan is home. Her legs/ankles/feet sound very like Elizabeths - she also has compression stockings. It was good you managed to get extra wide shoes for her. Colins Mum is fine although full of the cold last week. I hope she's recovered from it before we go again on Tuesday. Thomas is great. His speech is much clearer now & he is stringing words together. He sings a lot which is quite funny, things like twinkle twinkle little star, but he actually manages to keep the tune.  It will be nice for you to have Charlie home again for a few days for the girls birthday. I never thought about motorbikes going out in cold weather. I know the gritters use road temperature rather than air temperature forecasts because they can be very different but I don't really understand it. Do you get specific forecasts every day through the winter or do you have to look that up for yourself if you are the one on duty that day? It is starting to thaw here now but is still very icy underfoot, even with the winter trax things on my boots. I don't like it at all x
