Happy Thursday to you 🙏🏽

Tomorrow is a public holiday unique to New Zealand only called Matariki.
Matariki is the celebration of the Māori New Year. It is marked by the rise of the Matariki (Pleiades/Subaru/Mao) star cluster as we pass through the dead of winter (June/July), into a new year.
It is celebrated in 3 ways (besides a bank holiday) over the period when the star cluster rises and is visible to us.
Basically, we remember / mourn those who have passed in this last 12 months. We share food / a meal with others to celebrate what we have in the present. Then thirdly, we prepare the ground/garden and plant food to sustain us in the future.

For now I'm resting, as I've shopped, cleaned my house, written up my menu to share with my neighbours tomorrow and compiled my list of vegetables I'll be planting on Sunday.

So now it's time to do some return sprinkles 😉💚

Hope you had a great Wednesday!
Quiet here. I come home and use the heating pad on my back and hip. Hoping to find out a plan to walk better when I see the ortho doc on Monday.
Meanwhile there is sewing Saturday at the library and the Cain Park arts festival on Sunday. The festival starts Friday but it is due to rain all day so I will wait until Sunday. I want to see a particular artist who makes ceramic creatures. They are very alien looking and my nephew loves odd looking creatures. He had me make sock monsters when I visited many years ago. I finished the first one and he wanted to make another, so I taught him how to thread the needle, lock the stitch and assemble the pieces.  He finished it that night and showed me the next morning. He has grown to be a lovely young man, so I will search out the odd creatures for him.
