I’ve forgotten if we’re trying for a specific color chick, say you have an indigo egg and a blue egg and the índigo comes first and it’s an indigo chick, will the blue hatch as blue? I know there’s a method to it, but I can’t remember which needs to hatch first?

The chick will always hatch from the lowest color egg that it can.  So, if you have a blue egg and an indigo, the blue egg will crack for a red / orange / yellow / green / blue chick and the indigo egg will only crack for an indigo chick.

To setup to guarantee an indigo chick, have an indigo egg and a blue egg in your garden with fresh plates of food.  Everytime the blue egg starts to crack, dump the food and try again.  That way, when you get an indigo alert, you'll be guaranteed an indigo chick.
