Can someone please remind me the details of the 'trick' of safeguarding a higher colour egg with a lower colour? I cannot seem to find a thread dedicated to it.

A relative of mine is trying to help me with a quest and the lower egg keeps cracking instead of the higher one. Are we doing anything wrong or is it just bad luck?

You need one egg the color you want (e.g. violet) and then one egg the next color down (e.g. indigo).  The chick / seahorse will always go to the lowest color it can, so everytime the indigo egg wobbles, you know it's not a violet chick.  You dump the food and try again.  Keep doing it until the violet egg wobbles.  That will be a violet chick.

By my previous understanding and reinforced with what Rachel said, Pam you are doing the correct thing. Keep changing the the food until the Indigo egg cracks.

Just a final though/question... Does the egg placement in the garden (which one is leftmost etc) plays any role in which one hatches 1st?

I believed that was the case but since the desired egg cracked when we changed the position of the eggs, my resolve wavered. That is how those persistent Fairyland myths are born! lol
