I can’t open my Calendar

I received this message: Sorry, calendar doors can only be opened a maximum of 2 days early.
So, I’m assuming that I have to wait until I have to wait until 24 (?) hrs from the last time I opened it?

It isn't 24 necessarily hours from the time you opened it, it's just that Fairyland runs on UK time (GMT) and you can't go more than two days ahead - so you can open day 11 at midnight GMT on 9th (about 5 hours time).

Can anyone tell me why it takes so long for notifications of critters spotted to show up in my feed? Is it the time difference?

I just checked, and three elf FM were spotted, and I only got credit for one. Has this happened to anyone else.
Am I missing something?

The Calendar door opens for 12 hours. One EFM was spotted 5 hours 29 minutes ago, one was spotted 12 hours 38 minutes ago and one was spotted 15 hours 12 minutes ago. So only one EFM was spotted in the past 12 hours. The other two were spotted before the door was opened assuming it was opened 12 hours ago.
