Mike, maybe we can have new extinct plants?!? I just watch a video about one extinct plant and it got me thinking. We have all sorts of rare wildlife, but maybe rare plants would be fun too.

Maybe to earn the seeds, we have to harvest a certain number of plants and maybe attract some of those wildlife. Then we earn an extinct seed, which can then give us new wildlife. Maybe the seed only attracts when FG (but please let it last at least a week) or only when RFH (but like the cactus, where it switched on/off or it has different direction/color/some quality that makes the wildlife only visit on the correct day).

I don't know much about plant taxonomy. But here's some I've found:
Vanoorstia bennettiana - a type of algae for UW fund
Flabellidium - a type of moss
Adiantum lianxianense - Chinese fern
Streblorrhiza - a type of legume
Sporobolus durus - a type of grass

Great idea Shannon ..the challenge to earn the seed first then once earned we can attract the new wildlife.. I support this even if I cant finish gold challenge first .. something new Will really be a great incentive

What a fab idea. I didn't realise that there was such a thing as extinct plants. Never too old to learn something new though. I love this idea Shannon.

Just like Goody, I never knew that plants could become extinct, although it makes perfect sense. I like Shannon's idea very much.

Franklin Tree (Franklinia alatamaha): This tree was last seen in the wild in 1803 and now only exists in cultivation.
St. Helena Olive (Nesiota elliptica): This tree went extinct in the wild in 1994, with the last cultivated specimen dying in 2003.
Silphium: An ancient plant from North Africa, whose disappearance is considered one of the first plant extinctions in recorded history.
Orbexilum stipulatum: An extinct plant that was known from a single location in the United States.
Extinct in the wild
Wood's Cycad (Encephalartos woodii): The last wild specimen died in 1916, but it is propagated through clones in botanical gardens.
St. Helena Olive (Nesiota elliptica): The last wild specimen died in 1994.
Euphorbia mayoraththani: Declared extinct in the wild in 2012 due to agricultural expansion and deforestation.
So many to choose from sadly.
