Hi everyone, I'm a little bit confused with this groups of birds that suggested under the Most Useful Topic - Guide to chicks. I want to build Crane nest and egg. Are these particular birds that are suggested in the group, the birds that I need to hunt for the nest?

Group 1: Wren, Yellow Wagtail, Chaffinch, Singing Bush Lark
Group 2: Nightingale, Bee Eater, Roadrunner, Waxwing
Group 3: Kingfisher, Oriole, Chickadee, Blue Jay
Group 4: Woodpecker, Magpie, Jackdaw, Crane

Thank you very much in advance!

The Nesting Yellow Wagtail says:

Hello! What a beautiful garden you have here. And this nest seems like the perfect place for me to lay an egg!

But first, I have a little task for you, which is to help out in a few other gardens by spotting their birds for them.

I will lay my egg after you have spotted your 90th Wren in other Gardens (you have so far spotted 87, which means you still need to spot another 3.)

Pay close attention to what the task you are given is!

The birds will not always tell you to spot their own kind, instead they will give you a task to spot any of the 4 birds within it's "group".

Group 1: Wren, Yellow Wagtail, Chaffinch, Singing Bush Lark
Group 2: Nightingale, Bee Eater, Roadrunner, Waxwing
Group 3: Kingfisher, Oriole, Chickadee, Blue Jay
Group 4: Woodpecker, Magpie, Jackdaw, Crane

Those are not lists of birds you need to build the nest.  You can use any adult birds to build nests, but the nest you then use for chicks must have been added to by the adult of the chick you want.

So if you want crane chicks, you need a nest which a crane helped to build.

Those lists are the birds which a nesting bird can ask you to hunt for, in order to lay her egg once you have her sitting in your nest.

No Lana, you can have any mix of birds including ducks, penguins, even dodo e.t.c. But 5th nest builder must be the crane. What the bird groups mean - when you get your nesting crane, you will have to search for any of the group four birds to get your egg. Eg, if you have spotted 4th woodpecker and your task is to spot woodpecker, then 1 more will give you your egg. The same applies to any of the birds in group 4. If you had a woodpecker nesting, your task would be to search for 5th magpie, jackdaw or crane.

Does the 5th nest builder have to be the wanted adult bird ? I thought it just had to be part of the nest

It just needs to have added a piece to the nest, doesn't matter when it was added.  The 5th mentioned above is the number of birds you need to hunt for, in order to get the bird to lay the egg (the next multiple of five).

Oh it says 5th nest builder i misunderstood.

Sorry Jayne, it can be in any order, doesn't have to be 5th nest builder. I usually build my nest with 4 easy ones first, e.g duck, oriole, ostrich, maybe griffin or phoenix- then concentrate on the adult bird I need to complete.
