The price of pots in the marketplace - are they even slightly realistic?

Am I out to lunch or are the prices people are placing on their pots in the marketplace highly unrealistic. Let take the following calculations (and if I am wrong - let me know):

Lets say you want to buy a pot available for 9,999 Gold Dust which equals 59,994 Gold (according to Fairyland when you click on the item to purchase)

Cost of 8,000 gold in Fairyland = $40 USD (6,000 plus 2,000 free)

You would have to spend $300 USD to get 1 pot worth 9,999 gold dust. Who on earth is willing to pay that amount of actual, real money on a pixelated pot?

A genuine question from someone who is honestly confused

You only get 6000 for each $40 gold package
You would have to buy at least 8 to get 9600 gold sprinkles
so you would have to add a $20 package if my math is right.

People did when the Pottery Lottery first started, but now, it is highly unusual to see any pots actually sold for those extortionate amounts.  That said, upon the introduction of the Gold challenge, some justify the cost by putting gold dust that they’ve won towards the more expensive pots.  They’re definitely not something I would purchase, I think my husband would divorce me if I did, but each to their own.

I don't even look at them.  They are not something I would be prepared to spend that kind of money on - I would want a real, genuine, beautiful antique vase for my home if I had that kind of money to spend, not a few pixels in an imaginary garden, some of which I don't even think are attractive.

But my finances and my priorities are not the same as someone else's might be.  The prices are eye-watering to me, but if someone has nothing better to spend their money on, and it's not going to lead to problems for them (ny husband would divorce me too, or at least worry for my sanity) then it's really none of my business.

Well,  people spending this amount in real monies also supports the game magnificently , and I daresay much appreciated by the developer, although I would agree with Tracey,  a phenomenonal  amount of cash for a pixel pot.

I have to agree
My last sentence was cut off unfortunately when I copied and pasted it
In the real world - that $340 pays for a lot of groceries
I cant see spending it on a picture
I love FL but that is beyond most peoples wallets right now

I haven't bought any pots for 9999 but I have bought them. Most expensive one I've bought, think it was 2500. I've also won some cool pots doing the pottery lottery. My FL garden makes me happy and I spend a lot of time there so I just think why not but the occasional pot. I quit smoking 15 years ago and I rarely drink alcohol so this is my only vice 😀 I do agree though that some of the pots are crazy expensive.

I took time away from Fairyland for 6 years and when I came back I had missed the first couple of years of the pottery quests. I did purchase some of the pots and I think the most I spent was 1200 (which to me was already a lot). I live alone and am close to retirement so my money is my own to spend. There are one or two of the higher end pots that I like but I cannot justify the real life money that it would take to buy a pixel pot. I just think that those selling them need to be a little more realistic in their expectations.
