You can mix up the suits in the cards but they are only good to attract the critters in their own section and correct food , if you have a diamond card it will attract only caucus to comfit food
The club's only tea party on afternoon tea , they are not interchangeable, if you have two club you can use a diamond as the third card but it won't do anything but fulfill the requirement of three cards exactly .

I can't tell, as only the card gardeners are visiting right now. When you have 3 cards you'll get clues from Alice's helpers, then you can tell what cards to keep.
