Using beehives and honeypots for bears

In storage, I have (for example) a honeypot made from red bees and a beehive made from orange bees. I understand "empty"means no honeyblossom seed is planted.  My question:  If I harvest the honey from the hive, would it attract a bear?  the honeypot says "empty" and made by red bees.  (These are hives I used when going through the bee challenge)  My confusion is - if I harvest the honey from the 100% full hive with the top on it, will there be honey for the bear?  And the red one says "empty" but made by red bees - is it usable?  ( am wondering I guess if I have to have 100% full bee hives - not ever planted with honeyblossom seeds - to attract bears.  I've set a couple in the garden for illustration if someone could check to see if either or both can be used.  I would change the beehive for one that would attract brown bear.  Thank you for any advice or suggestions.

It is the honeypot and not the hive which attracts the bear. You harvest the honey from the hive into the pot, and that is what the bear wants.

It's the Honey Pot (empty) that attracts bears. The Beehive needs to be harvested to become a Pot, I know it's confusing but I've done the bears, lol!! Good luck!! ^_^

Oh, and it doesn't matter whether the pot has ever had a honey blossom planted in it or not, but it can't have one in it now if you want bears.

OK, I think I see now.  Harvesting the hive automatically turns the hive into a pot with the honey in it, so those pots I have from attracting the "next level" bees are usable for the bears?

Yes.

Thank you all SO much!  I should learn to ask before I keep stressing myself out trying to understand some of these "challenges" and new animals!  Thank you again!!

Hi
How many black bears come to your garden? I have just had my first black bear spotted, do I get any more or is that it?

Once the bear has visited and taken the pot of honey, it is replaced by an empty hive.  To get more bears, you will need to put more pots out.

Ah right, thanks, I wasn't sure and the Bears section is sparse on info x
