Your stories about Rylee and JoJo always brings a smile .. x

I realized how Jojo was opening her crate door! The newer crates have a lift and lock system. You lift the door and there are hooks on the door that attach to the wall of the gate, then you are supposed to slid the metal bar in place to secure the door. Hubby and I usually only hook the gate - I rarely slide the latch into place. It holds Rylee and is easier for me to let them out - simply lift the door and it opens.  Jojo must have realized this and digs at the door - pushing it up and voila! It opens! I'm sure she then goes to Rylee and taunts him while he sits obediently in his crate - "Mom said stay!" We now slide the bolt once Jojo is in her crate. I have started letting them roam free for our short trips out - no zoomies happen while we are away. Maybe one day they will be allowed to roam free but for now - better safe than sorry. Each time Jojo does something new I have to wonder about her past. Many of you are aware that we adopted Jojo almost three years ago. (where does the time go?) I have found she is funny and loving - she is also an escape artist. We will crate both Rylee and Jojo when we go out - this is for their safety and comfort. The last few times when we got home - Jojo is out of her crate - greeting us at the door. The first time I thought hubby had forgotten to put her into hers, he insisted he had remembered.  The next time, I wondered if he had locked it properly so the next time I put her in and locked it myself. Again she greeted us at the door and Rylee sat in his crate with a scowl. Jojo has been crowned "Escape Artist" of the house. Happy Thursday.

So the muddy season has arrived. I took a chance and played in the back yard yesterday. Rylee chased the toy under our maple tree - this is where the mud lives. He came back to me with muddy feet - and legs - up to his knees! I got out the foot washer and went to work. He doesn't hate it - he just isn't very cooperative. I struggled with him one foot at a time - muddy water spilling out of the container and Rylee pretending to be patient. Jojo decided that she wanted to see what Rylee was getting that she wasn't and the whole project went to out the window. I went into the house  and Rylee decided that he didn't want to - I shut the door and he began to bark. Each time I opened the door he'd stop and turn and run out into the yard. It's going to be a long muddy season. Happy Wednesday.

Rylee is a great catcher! I watch as he will snag what I have thrown out of the air in an impressive leap, twist, grab. I have often thought that he could play for a ball team. What makes me laugh is when we start to play I will toss it into the yard, Rylee and Jojo barking excitedly they race to the yard and stop - turn to look at me - "where is it?" I point it's behind you - Look! Turning Rylee spots it and the chase is on. Jojo making that sound she makes that sound she makes. Rylee grabbing the toy and racing away - Jojo hot on his heels. I'll Be happy when Spring settles and the yard dries up.

Waking with Rylee is an adventure.  He jumps up on the bed and plants himself at my head. He sits on my body pillow - pins my arms and then licks my chin. I push him away - don't lick my face. Then he rests his head on my neck against my chin - I can't breath Rylee. Usually he steps back and goes to the foot of the bed to wait for hubby to get up. Lately he just sits there - on my arms so I can't move. I now understand how I get bruises on my inner arms! When Rylee hears hubby and Jojo he launches himself off of me - and the bed. Another day begins - Happy Monday.
