yes - as I want the indigo not a randome colour but did it wrong - should have left it aaarrgh tired and going to give up until tomorrow and I need to spot an indigo as well

and messed up but tired so will sort tomorrow and get a blue egg

Get the egg colour the same as the colour chick you need get the next egg colour down the ‘rainbow’ in another nest in your garden
wait for an alert.. IF the lower egg colour wobbles first (NOT the one you want)  dump the food and put new out.. do not let the lower egg hatch.
if the higher colour egg hatches first.. it will be that coloured chick, as the lower egg ‘locks in’ all the other lower coloured chicks.

It should be the egg lower than the one you want, so if you want violet, you should have an Indigo

violet chick – need violet and indigo egg
indigo chick – indigo and blue egg
blue chick – blue and green egg
green chick – green and yellow egg
yellow chick – yellow and orange egg
orange chick – orange

I am in my mid sixties so a bit older than you. I grew up in Collingham but went to high school in Newark in the early 70's. Then worked at Pendreds hairdressers which isn't there anymore.
My aunt lives near the old hospital just off London Road/Sherwood Avenue but I expect you mean the other on Boundary Road which wasn't a hospital when I lived there.
My cousin lives just off Lincoln Road on the way out of Newark. I think her brother Glen lives in Sutton on Trent. Well he did years ago.

Wow, it is always nice to meet someone from back "home" I was in Newark just over a week ago but only for a few hours so to say and slept at my cousin's for 2 nights...... well didn't really sleep as we were "catching up" and chatting over a glass or many more 🫣.
I left Collingham 44 year's ago. Maybe before you were born lol.
