Yeah, lots of water flowing down the San Juan. Its head waters are above Pagosa (the Rio Grands start on the east side). Pagosa flooded and then a levee on the Pine around Vallecieto broke and flooded Bayfield. BLM even cut back the flow out of Navajo because the Animas flooded parts of Durango. Three or four storms like that and the lake might hit the high water mark.
I did kraut out of kohlrabi one year. It was good, with a stronger flavor than cabbage.
Is your garden about done? I just have to get my acorn squash off the vine and a few sets of shallots and my red onions pulled and cured.
Not sure what happened with the reds, they aren’t much bigger than golf balls, whereas my white and yellow onions were softball sized.

I did saurkraut with ginger and beets a couple of years ago and it was great.
Yeah, winter is just around the corner here. All the old cottonwoods are dressed in gold and the peaks of the San Juans are capped in white.
They had some major rains in the San Juans when tropical storm Priscilla pushed up from Mexico. The water level in Navajo Dam rose over 10 feet in a matter of days. Mind you, it still isn’t full, but considering it is 35 miles long that is quite the drop of water in the bucket!
