No, it's been changed because of the problems being caused by Facebook.

From the News page under the "Plant a Poppy" announcement from a couple of weeks ago:

Note that gifting to friends has been replaced with a simple 'Buy For Myself (Free)' so you can simply now get one for yourself. This change has been made due to the temperamental nature of Facebook's gifting mechanism which was causing frustration.
