I had intended to go for awhile to Renton's but Charles fell yesterday (he's ok, but we took him in for a CT scan to be sure no brain bleed), and he is still pretty sore.  Anyway, I decided to stick around closer to home.  We did drive up to feed my son's cat (he is in Nashville for work for the week), and it was encouraging to see all the streets along Rainier and MLK Way and through Columbia City lined with lots of signs and protesters.

Take care of those knees!!! . . . and give yourself time to recoup.  Don't push yourself too hard and get yourself into trouble!

Were there a lot of folks out? It was a great day for it!

Agreed -- the only reason we are struggling is that our trust has been so fully betrayed.  Makes you doubt everything & everyone -- which is not a good way to feel about colleagues. 

The kid was already wearing an ankle monitor -- was released on probation for shooting someone last summer at a local park.  One of the teachers who had him (just a sophomore) knew he had a probation officer, but had never been told the nature of his crime.  We are all furious about that, too. I understand the laws around protecting the identity of minors, but if he's in a classroom with a teacher and other children. . . the teacher needs to know what the history is.  So infuriating.

The life alert thing is probably a good idea.  Sorry the balance isn't any better in the water, lol :(

your day yesterday sounds fantastic ~ and it was a beautiful day for it, too!  I love those inflatable suits -- I feel like they capture the idiocy of this administration's actions so perfectly.  And very cool that you met a kindred spirit, lol.

You had told me about your taxes --and (touch wood), I hope I am never in a position to need that information, but that is so good to know, too (that they can only tax you on the "metal duress" part of a financial judgement).  I would be the same, unless I thought the person was really irresponsible and malicious, and then I would want to do something that might deter them from doing something similar in the future.

You probably (if you're lucky) haven't been paying attention, but our school was in the news (and not in a good way) last week.  One of our students was arrested as the shooter in the Rainier Beach student shooting, and one of our guidance counselors was arrested for improper association with a minor.  The latter is particularly tough, because he has been there a long time, and we all had a lot of trust in him.  We are all struggling with it.  The disappointment, and horror, really, and sense of betrayal.  I ha
