Am in hospital so am freezing garden indefinitely, thought I was suffering depression then had a seizure monday....went to hospital and have 20, yes 20 brain tumors! Doing brain biopsy Friday to try to determine source, they said they were metastatic but can't find any cancer anywhere else in body where they could have metastasized from. Biopsy should reveal source which will determine what kind of treatment needs to be done, if any! Am in total shock , you can try to friend me in Facebook to get any updates...name is Janet Tuttle. Just wanted to try to let my garden friends know why I am away. I love you all even f we have never met in person. I consider you all as real friends! Trying to be positive but also want to say my goodbyes just in case., So thank you for being a part of my life so far and God willing I will be back laughing and joking and playing for years to come but after losing my garden friend Pam to covid 19 without being able to say goodbye, I just sent want that to happen to any body I care about here. I really am thinking positive about it but 20 tumors is pretty big, so need to get my ducks lined up!

Scent of lilac.
Lilac is a flower of the month of May when evenings and mornings are light but cool. It is a bush or tree that grows without too much attention and one I associate with older or cottage gardens as it can grow rather large. There is a dwarf version growing in a couple of corners in my own cul de sac and I appreciate the scent as I walk by.
There was a white lilac I remember from childhood that my Mother liked growing in the corner of the front garden. The front garden was in front of the farm house as opposed to the vegetable garden across the yard enclosed by hedges or fruit garden at the top of the higher Orchard. There is a more common light shade of purple lilac. There was some in the garden of the first house I occupied when my son was little. A cat used to sit in the top of the bush. My son at three used to climb the tree to sway around or shake the cat out! I loved the scent in the evening. I saw some lilac in a hedge on my wanderings and then saw the remaining wall of a tumble down farm cottage. So I do think of lilac as old fashioned :)

Hi Claire, I am ok, i lost a dear fairyland friend to the virus  the end of March and just had to take a break form the gardens, we talked online, or by phone or text just about every day for the last 10 years, and sometimes being in the gardens just reminds me too much that she is gone. i know whe would want me to stay in the game and stay in touch with others, so am trying again. i am soooooooooooo tired of all this isolation! enough already!!!

Wandering Horace the little soft toy pig has missed going out for various reasons, On Wednesday 11th March I met a friend and we drove for a walk round Staple Hill. She liked it so much we did two laps of the 800 meter walk.  There was cloud and sunshine with patches of blue sky. We could see over the vale to the Mendip hills and the fields were picked out by distant sunshine. There were dog walkers with bouncy friendly dogs and when they went we could hear various birds in the trees.
The sunshine was very welcome but it was also time to catch up since my  friend moved to Kent. Love from Somerset UK
