Left plants (1st position): red/orange (orange is what you want)
middle plant (2nd position) yellow/ green (green is what you want)
Right plant (3rd position): blue/indigo (indigo is what you want)

OK, so looking at your current plants:
the orange heart if the right shape, but wrong colour for the indigo sweettooth as the blue is visiting (the blue and indigo visit the plant in the 3rd position).   So you need to try to find another heart colour to attract the indigo sweetooth.
BUT, the orange heart is the right shape and colour for the indigo lollipup so that plant is a keeper.
The orange heart is also the right colour, but wrong shape for the indigo sugarsnout as the blue sugarsnout is visiting - that orange heart is pretty popular, lol.

In order to find what plant shape and colour each candydevil is attracted to, you put out berries (as they only eat berries) and see what visits.  If you have a red candydevil visit, you know the plant in the first position is the right shape, but wrong colour (that is, for the orange one to visit, the one you want, you need to find the correct shape AND colour for it - so you know it's a square, but not the colour you have).  So you try another colour square in the 1st position, if the red candydevil visits again, again you know that colour is also not correct, so you try all 7 colours until the orange one visits - then you know you have the right one.  You go through the same process for the yellow (to find the green) candydevil for the position #2 plant, and the blue (to find the indigo) candydevil for the position #3 plant.  These other plants could be any shape or colour, you won't know until you see what comes to the food.  Ya follow?

Attract orange critter means left most plant is the right shape and colour so it's the correct left most plant for the violet of that critter
Attract green critter means middle plant is the right shape and colour so it's the correct middle plant for the violet of that critter
Attract indigo critter means right most plant is the right shape and colour so it's the correct right most plant for the violet of that critter

Attract a red critter means the left most plant attracted it and its the right shape but wrong colour to attract the same orange critter
Attract a Yellow critter means the middle plant attracted it and its the right shape but wrong colour to attract the same Green critter
Attract a Blue critter means the Right most plant attracted it and its the right shape but wrong colour to attract the same Indigo critter

Each color of animal means something.  Red, yellow, or blue mean you have the correct shape of plant in the right place but the plant is the wrong color.  Orange, green, or indigo mean you have the correct shape, place, and color of plant.  When you get the proper 3 plant combination, you'll be attracting orange (because the leftmost plant is correct), green (because the middle plant is correct), indigo (because the rightmost plant is correct), and violet (because all 3 are correct).
