Gosh Linda 24 years ago and now they are much more advanced & can do so much more today. I think you should have the check even if you have to pay for it.
My Mummy did all the genetic testing for me when I was living there and it came back as negative and she didn’t have the breast cancer barraca BRCA gene that’s passed down in families. They stilll insist that I have yearly check ups.

I just had my mammogram recently and my Mother had breast cancer at 69 and had the operation to remove the lump and lymph nodes and had radiotherapy and given drugs and she was fine and I nursed her for two weeks to get her back on her feet. Sadly when my Mother passed away when COVID happened (she was 88) I was not allowed to travel to say goodbye or attend her funeral. It broke my heart and then I found out on her death certificate she passed away with breast cancer. This was a shock for me and Mummy was one of six daughters and one sister is alive and has skin cancer, the other four have passed and three had breast cancer. Their Mother died in her early 40’s we believe from Ovarian cancer. My father passed from cancer and so did some of his siblings. I have a family history of it on both sides as both my grandfathers passed away with it too.
I just got the all clear and it was such a relief as I was quite worried 😦 xx
