Do you actually live by the Salton Sea? I live in Quartzsite, AZ…not so far away. Hot hot… I leave in the summer & travel around up north. In a few days I’m going up to visit my son in Colorado. Love your Doonesbury cartoon. That was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid, still have the books.

My hubby had a great job offer in central CA once but we turned it down when we realized how far he had to commute ..We love Oregon. We are 85 miles from the Pacific ocean so I can drive down, spend the day and come on home. We had planned to get a small house  by the ocean when we retired but the universe had other plans for him. He became disabled at the age of 53. We are still in the home our kids grew up in although it's too big for us.  We're exploring our housing options now so we shall see where we spend the rest of our days.

Yes we probably are I just turned 64🙄😄. I started at Umass and finished at Boston U. In both of them the strip was run in the local college paper. I saw Breathed at Umass he came and did a lecture on drawing and publishing a syndicated strip, which was very interesting.  Thinking how unpolitically correct  Bloom & Doonesbury were at the time, I think in todays American scenery they would probably be thrown in jail, especially Trudeau 🙈🤣.  I was so in love with Opus that my Dad painted me a Tshirt with Opus,Bill,Hodge Podge,Portnoy &Basselope 😁.  Breatheds FB page went to  Patreon. com with a monthly subscription. There are still a few fan BC pages on FB, but no new strips. xx

I started reading Bloom County when it first came out and I was at college. In the last few years dont know if you were aware Breathed had a FB page, were he was posting his brand new comic strips. Unfortunately he has moved to a paid site with a monthly subscription. As you say there are very few comic strips anymore.
