where you turn it on there is a bit you csn unscrew where the filter is you have to take that off and wash the filter every now and then

thanks for the triple spots. xx As for your dyson, mine does that to, and when you empty the barrel, you may need to tap that a few times, as ours fills with dust and also the top needs to come and give that a wash every now and then the filter bit.
Hope your back feels better soon, and book in with you doc and get it checked. id be making an appointment sap because if your doctor is busy she may not have anyone appointments for a few weeks.
