We have A/C in our master bedroom/suite.  It is upstairs with southern-facing windows and would be intolerable otherwise.  We've looked into A/C for the whole house, but haven't felt (yet) like it would be worth the investment... it never used to be necessary in the Pacific Northwest, but now lots of folks are having it put in.
