Accessing services in the UK is appalling as well Carmen, there is a growing sense of bad feeling towards immigrants here and it's getting worse as it 'appears' they are often given access with preference over those who have lived here, paid into the system and have been on waiting lists for months! The state of our hospitals, well, everyone has a horror story recently! My dad being treated on a plastic chair for 18 hours with no blanket for warmth when the heating went off overnight. Mavis, her son-in-law had double pneumonia and was put on an ambulance stretcher in a corridor, three days he was like that! Beds are being taken up by patients who are healthy but need a care plan in place before they can go home.

Social services - who are responsible for arranging care plans - are under-funded, under-staffed and overworked - just don't have the manpower or the places available and so patients can't be discharged. It's a vicious circle! And, like your hospitals, this time of year they're virtually in crisis because of the flu patients. I really hope, for all your sakes, that mom can get a placement in the facility that she wants and not be subject to more germs, that's the last thing she needs. I have a fssting blood test at the surgery on Monday, I guess I'll find out more after that. Take care of yourself Carmen and make sure you're getting enough rest. Hugs my friend xx
