Soon decorations
of every hue will
garland apartments
and houses too
They'll be bright lights outside
Maybe a Christmas tree.
they'll bring a happy smile to
you & to me
Special foods will be cooked
and gifts will be bought
Children's faces light up
at the very thought
Maybe it is Santa
or a dreidel will be spun
all the fun of holidays
the children will enjoy
no worries they do have
whilst the adults start to think
is this present right or wrong
will the holiday meal turn out
well or be inedible
wrapping presents with ribbons
and with bows
and maybe if you're lucky
there may be snow
the children's eyes will sparkle
as a snowman they do build
Hands cold and nose's red
they still stay out to play
I'll be glad when it's over
it's to commercialised for me
But I must admit it's lovely
to see the family
So, enjoy the festive meals
gifts and the camaraderie
I'm off to order presents
to put under my butterfly tree
