The Keepsake Box
I have a wooden chest of stuff, it's full to overflowing
With all the treasured keepsakes i'm continually stowing.
I simply haven't room for more, i've been to sentimental,
It's time to sort the contents out, they can't all be essential.
Oh, here's Gran's box of buttons that i played with as a girl
And the brooch Mum gave me, a shame i lost the pearl.
Pressed flowers from my bride's bouquet,
Our first home front-door key,
Shells gathered on our honeymoon, while strolling by the sea.
I kept all our "New Baby" cards, now yellowed with the years, and oh! the children's tiny shoes,
I find i'm moved to tears.
Next, crafts made by our grandchildren, we truly have been blessed.
How can i part with memories?
I'll find a larger chest!
