Very very annoyed that if it is right, the food is being wasted on the merwitch. I am sooooo bored waiting…

Yes, your setup is right. But they are very tricky to attract - they're very rare, and you can't deter the mermaid so it's just like when you do unicorns on land and the mice take all the food.
