Bee hives are usually released on the 21st of June, with the sunflowers and the associated challenge following a few days later (on the 26th last year).

Yes, I've been waiting for the 21st and hoping to finish my Land Down Under quest in time to do the Bear quest when the Bees come out and then get into the "big" new Summer (whatever is planned for us) thing.
