can somebody help!! oh boy this is confusing. I am going back to frogs (to do bottom dwellers) and I forgot how this works.  I have spotted 14 sets in other gardens. In mine were spotted: 17 land frogs, and 4 each of frogs, froglets, and tadpoles. What do I do to get spawn??

You aren't due any underwater frogs in your garden, so you'd have to start with spawn from a land frog.

Can you double check your figures for your complete sets spotted?  You must have spotted more than 14 sets, as you've had 17 land frogs spotted (you get one for each complete set).    You need to look at the number of tadpoles, froglets and underwater frogs spotted - count any underwater frogs you've spotted in other gardens as part of your total of underwater frogs.

oh you're right, I spotted 11 land frogs, 16 UW frogs, 22 froglets and 16 tadpoles- so that's 16 sets? so, back to land to get a frog?

Your 20th land frog will give you spawn, so you will need to spot a few more tadpoles and underwater frogs to get your sets to 20.  Remember to also any ghost frogs to the underwater frogs count.

ohhhh. so first I need to spot 4 tadpoles and 4 UW frogs- that will make 20 sets. Then I should be  on land to attract a land frog... (thanks by the way, this is confusing!)

Fortunately for you Stephanie it looks like you had a "twin" land frog spotted in yours (which is why you have had 17 land frogs spotted even though you have only spotted 16 complete sets of uw frogs) which means you only need to spot 3 more each of adult uw frogs and tadpoles to attract 3 more land frogs to your garden - the 20th spotted in your garden on land will drop spawn (nothing wrong with spotting more but just to make the task seem a bit easier for you!)

a last question- do I need to be on land?? cause I'm underwater, so wondering if I can stay here if I reach the right numbers... right now I have 11 land frogs, 18 UW frogs, 22 froglets, and 17 tadpoles... sorry for all the questions

Hi Stephanie.  UW you only attract UW frogs.   As noted above by the others,  you need a land frog to lay spawn & for that you must be on land.   You can stay UW until you have 20 sets of breeders spotted in other ponds and then go to land to attract your #20 land frog to lay the spawn.    But you must be on land to attract #20 land frog as noted above.    GL   xx
