Yes you can stop and start if you have completed a whole plate.   But if you stop midway on a plate then you would have start at critter 1 again... so if say you was on the red plate at stage 2 and decided to stop you cannot restart that plate at stage 2 you would start back on stage 1 on the plate xx

If your doing the red over and over again........ then you can keep the pink cap mushroom in but you will get lots of mice etc..............  It depends on how you want to play are you going to move onto the orange plate next because depending on the plate order you may have another unicorn first or half way through that plate........... but you will need to plant the enchanted pink mushroom for a winged unicorn................. 
Lots will plant the higher up mushrooms but it is always a gamble whether you get them in your garden.............. I found it was far easier to put the corresponding mushroom to what unicorn I needed that way you are guaranteed to get the correct unicorn............ I lost out on a complete green trail due to my unicorn I needed not turning up, also I think Esty lost out on one of her plates and I know several others who had the same problem........... a lot of fairies have the rocks so they can replant a mushroom and have it ready in no time.......

You can plant a supershroom that will stop the mice and help you get your top unicorns into yours xx

Jen yay you git your trim but you will need to now harvest your pink cap mushroom most likely as it will detract your topiary unicorns from arriving..........

Place your Pink Mushroom first left then the food then the topiary bush then the pink marshmallow with the stgella vellaflora (wishing plant) next to that...........  so it often helps some say no but I have always found it worked......... shame I never found out about using the special pots for trimming xx
