rainbow butterfly question

Judy and Queen Ozette Of Farlandia With Nutkin The Gnome6 years, 1 month ago

I finally made it through all of the colors and have a fully grown rainbow butterfly flower in my garden.  I feel really dumb asking this but how do I get it to attract the different caterpillars to my garden? I am guessing I still need to hunt a caterpillar to form a chrysalis on it?  Mostly what I am wanting to do is to get caterpillars of various colors in my garden and to also get a rainbow butterfly here. Many thanks for any help you can give me.   I suspect there is a very simple answer to my question but it is pre-coffee and I just don't get it!

Yes, you need to attach a chrysalis to it so it is sparkling. When it is, it will attract all colours of caterpillar. It will also attract a butterfly, with a 50/50 chance of being the same colour as the caterpillar which formed it orthe rainbow butterfly.

Unfortunately as your rainbow BPF plant is already FG, you cannot attach a chrysalis so you will need to start with another plant.

I just figured that out!!  I will pull this one and replant.  I was hoping my cat hunting days were over vbg.  And I guess I leave a platter of tropical fruits out if I want the have a rainbow visit.  Many thanks.

Yes, if you want the butterfly to come, put out tropical fruit. If you want the plant to keep sparkling so it attracts caterpillars of all colours, put out a different food for them.

The caterpillar hunting for the rainbow is super easy though because you can just use the first color you find an alert for. :)

Thanks so much. I now have two chrysalises growing in my garden. Sure is easier than having to find a particular color. I will probably put out fruit until I get my first rainbow butterfly and then just attract cats.  I can see myself doing the wrigglies level 7 quest for a long time.  Or until acute boredom sets in!

after the butterfly shows, it will no longer attract all colors of cats- the butterpillaflora has to be sparkling to do that!

I guess I will try to get one RB and then just focus on cats, Thanks for the help.

Being able to have more than one chrysalis is a huge bonus too. I always wait to put fruit out until the butterpilaflora is close to being ready for harvest and get the butterfly spotted then so I get the caterpillars as long as possible. You can also just forget the butterflies but I prefer to try to let people spot them.
